another commission, had a blast with the hatter - and gave batmans cowl the space-ghost treatment.

your work is absolutely beautiful. Do you prefer to ink your own stuff or would you rather do just pencils if given the option?

thank you! actually it depends on the project, single images are more fun for me than panels to ink.

This may seem like a random detail to latch on to, but I freaking love that pocket watch. And, ha, those scrawny legs!

hey man, for inking do you prefer the smooth bristol or the vellum? I've been using vellum cuz the ink dries faster, but it soaks all the ink out of the brush faster and dries out all my pens. and it bleeds a little.

i use smooth bristol for most of what i do, really love using that slick illustration board to ink on - but its too expensive to use all the time.

I'll have to start inking on smooth more. Sean Murphy uses the rough stuff so I decided too, but it's just not working so well for me.

Sean is awesome, if you look at alot of his stuff theres alot of dry brush technique, and he has a gritty style that works well with rougher paper - i'm personally very envious of his use of ink.

but it all depends on what you are trying to accomplish, as well as finding what works best for you. try out a lot of paper, ink, brushes and pens till you find the tools you are comfortable with.
